So i'm sitting on my bed listening to the never ending (literally) party that seems to be going on in the street and here's the thing: it's cold. Not like i'm going to freeze and why is my window open sort of cold, but i wish i could curl up with a thick blanket and hot chocolate kind of cold. Definately a sweater if not a jacket weather, and while I normally dread the coming cold weather like most kids dread the coming school year, the idea of autumn in new york is really exciting for me. I can't wait for all the leaves to change color and for an excuse to wear tights and boots. In anticipation of this new season, i bought leather gloves. Beautiful "i want to frame these more than i want to wear these" short, yellow, leather gloves. I've come to realize how much i take Target for granted back home. There are two in the city and not one of those is in manhattan. I sure did make the trek to the bronx in the scary dark time when nice, young, blonde, mormon girls are told not to go to the bronx, risking my life for these fabulous gloves. Everyone back home should take a moment and give their local Target a hug just for being in a convenient location.
So other than the gloves, which undoubtably are the highlight of my last 20 days here, not a whole lot has been going on. Rachel and I wound up wandering around the East Village today to find her internship then we headed to Canal Street and Little Italy to celebrate a saint. It was insane! So many people...think Boise River Festival amount of people all crammed into about 3 blocks. We had terrible service at Rudy's Pizza (nothing new) but we did dessert first with amazing gelato at Ferraro's. It was fun other than the fact that I basically broke something in my foot making it pretty impossible to walk these last couple of days, which makes it impossible to do anything in the city. So I sucked it up, went out, and probably broke whatever was left unbroken. Now it hurts...
The other night, we went down to Union Square to wander for awhile. Got distracted by Sephora, (tried on A LOT of makeup - see picture below) found the chocolate restaurant, introduced Rachel to Ricky's (one of my top favorite places in Manhattan), and found Crumbs!!!
I am a loyal Magnolia Bakery patron, but i'm more loyal to the cupcake then to the operation. If ever there was a cupcake heaven, it would be at Crumbs. I got the cappuccino cupcake and ate the whole thing for dinner.
It was HUGE. One of the good things about New York is that they label everything with calories. Lets just say it was the ONLY thing i ate for dinner and for the rest of the night. But it was worth it.
